O sol já se tinha deitado e uma leve brisa soprava sobre as águas da Barrinha de Mira. Enquanto caminhava ao longo do trilho existente nas margens desta lagoa, o leve sussurrar dos caniços e de outros sons da natureza entoavam no ar, enquanto um odor a maresia me entrava suavemente pelas narinas dentro. As silhuetas de alguns bandos de aves aquáticas que nadavam no espelho de água tornavam-se cada vez mais difusas e difíceis de enxergar. Foi então, que surgindo das margens, um vulto negro começou a correr, chapinhando sobre a água com um bater de asas simultâneo. Tratava-se de um galeirão. Instintivamente, empunhei a camara fotográfica e cliquei na sua direção. Das várias fotos que consegui fazer esta foi a que melhor captou a visão que tenho desta espécie neste período dia: breve e fugaz.
The sun was already lying down and a light breeze blew over the waters of Barrinha Mira. While walking along the existing path on the shores of this lake, the faint whisper of the reeds and other sounds of nature intoned in the air, while a smell of sea air went softly into my nostrils. The silhouettes of some flocks of waterbirds that swam in the water mirror became increasingly diffuse and difficult to see. It was then that one black figure emerging from the banks and started running, sloshing on water with a flutter of wings. It was a coot. Instinctively, I wielded the photographic camera and clicked in its direction. Of several photos I could do this was the best which captured the vision I have of this species at this time day: brief and fugax.
